Our Trip - First few days

Ok, I have been meaning to get this done. I always love it when others share a little bit about there trip and I get to see pictures, so I thought I need to share. I will try to make things short, not much time to do this, Kebeb will be up from his nap soon.

Day One - We left for our trip on July 4th. We flew with Emirates, which was really wonderful. They actually were cheaper for us then going with Ethiopian Air. We had to purchase a seat for Kebeb since he is over 2, and that ticket I think was the big difference, much cheaper with Emirates. We had really good flights, but I am telling you the long flight from Houston, Texas to Dubai (mandatory stop for Emirates) was forever long. The food was awesome, they have personal tv's for each seat and you have a huge selection of movies, games, tv shows, ect. that you could watch. That really helped to pass the time.

We finally arrived in Ethiopia Monday morning July 6th and we were so excited to be there and meet our little man that we have been long to hold. They brought him to our guest house and we had a great time with Kebeb the rest of the day. Well, better go for now, I will try to post more over the next few days.

We Made It Home!!!!

We are home and I am just really slow at updating our blog. We got home late Tuesday night and it was a short night for me, Kebeb was up at 4:15 and ready to eat breakfast and go for the day. He has been on Ethiopia time for a few days. Thankfully last night we got a really good nights sleep and the night before was not to bad. He is adjusting really well, actually better then I thought he might. The kids love him to pieces and they are adjusting to him pretty well also. They all do not like it when he cries and screams at naptime and bedtime, but hopefully that will get better too!!

I don't know that I am going to keep up with my blog, I have not quite decided yet. Time has been kind of scarce so far. If you have questions or just need some encouragement please email me at joejenaz@yahoo.com I would be more then happy to talk with you or answer any questions.

Away We Go!!!

OK, I think we just about have everything packed in the suitcases or at least as much is going in them because of the weight limit. There were a couple of things that just are not able to go with us. We leave tomorrow morning from Amarillo and fly to Houston, Texas. We have a little wait in Houston and then leave around 7pm from Houston and off we go to Dubai. This will be our really long flight and will arrive in Dubai Sunday night (there time). There is about 9 hours difference from here and Dubai and there will be about 8 hours difference from home and Ethiopia. We will leave Dubai(there time) Monday morning and arrive in Addis around 11:30am(there time). We will be gone until July 14th. We arrive back in Amarillo, Texas on Tuesday the 14th around 10:50pm. If you want to come and greet us at the airport, we would love to see you. If not we hope to have a little time at home adjusting and then can't wait for you all to meet Kebeb!!!!

OK, hope that give you a little bit of an idea about where we will be. We are going to try to email updates while in Ethiopia but we will see how everything goes. We are so excited to be able to hug and love on our little Kebeb!!!!! Thank you all for your prayers and continued prayers!!!

About a Week Away!!!

We are one week away tomorrow from flying out to go get Kebeb!!!!!!! We are so very excited and nervous and anxious all at the same time. I think we are kind of getting things organized. I think I am finally about done with all of the paperwork and rounding up paperwork that we need to take with us. I am just praying that I do not forget anything that we need.
We have finally have all the details worked out for who is staying with our other sweet kids. Please pray for them while we are gone. I wish we could all go, but it is just not possible for a couple of reasons, Luke would not do good flying that far on a plane and we do not have enough money to take the kids with us.

OK, better go for now. I will try to update again before we leave with more of our flight details and other prayer requests.

I do need to share with you that God has done awesome things through our adoption journey. We began our journey last September and I asked God to please allow us to get our little one July 2009. There were a lot of reasons, but that does not matter, God does answer prayers. Not always how we want them or in the time frame, but God has done awesome things in my life through this process and my Faith has grown so much I can not even begin to tell you. My God can do ANYTHING!!!!

Faith

As we approach our 4th court date on Monday, I am working at the computer and looked at one of my quotes that I have been hanging on to, sorry I just wish I would have wrote down who said it, if you know I would love to have the name.

"That's exactly how God wants his children to live: by faith in future grace - the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. You can either stand in His place, or go at His pace."

I am so thankful for a God that cares about me and gave everything at Calvary in my place. What an awesome God I serve, how about you?

Thank you for the Encouragement

Just wanted to write a quick post letting you all know how much we appreciate all of the encouragement since our last court date. We have been staying busy and time seems to be flying by. Our court date is next Monday and we know God is going to do great things no matter what happens next Monday. God is good and never fails.
Our sweet Mary from Gladney has been wonderful through all of this and called just to check on us. What a wonderful agency God has blessed us with to be able to help many families to bring home our little ones. I don't know about all of you, but it just seems amazing to see how perfectly they match the little ones with their forever families. All of the blogs that I read and pictures that I see of families they are just meant to be and are a perfect fit. I should not be surprised though since God ordained and knew who each of the members of our family was going to be when He created the world.
I have been gone helping my parents, they are moving at the end of the month. What a job trying to get everything packed and trying to look for a house too!! It has kept my mind busy on other things then dwelling on our court date. We will go home on Wednesday and then I have to get busy getting ready for Bible school next week. The kids also have swimming lessons next week. June is really busy and it really helps me to keep busy. Well, better go for now.
Thank you again to all for the little notes of encouragement, we really appreciate it!!!! We are praying for all of the court dates this week and next week. To God be the Glory!!

We still did not pass

Please pray for us, we still did not pass court. Supposedly they did not get the opinion done. That is all we know. We are hurting and struggling, please pray for us. New court date is June 15th.

Tomorrow is Court

Just wanted to give a quick update that tomorrow is our 3rd court date. Please Pray!! We know you all are, and we are praying for everyone else that has court tomorrow too!!
I was feeling pretty good, but the nerves have started to set in. You think that surely by now they will have everything good and ready to say you pass, but that is what I thought last time too.
I know God's timing is perfect and we are going to be obedient to Him no matter what the outcome.

We will post something as soon as I know. Thanks for all of the encouragement, support and most of all the Prayers!!!

Memorial Day Fun

Everybody was in trouble when Luke got a hold of the hose!!

Luke got his Daddy with a cup of really cold ice water.

We had such a great family day yesterday, it was wonderful!! We had some of our good friends over and we grilled out, made homemade ice cream and had a wet and wild water balloon fight. It was the most fun I have had for awhile. It was great to just let all of our worries fade away and enjoy our three great kiddos. I am going to try to post some pictures now, but this is a first, so we will see if I get it figured out!!
OK, not so bad, they did not appear exactly where you think they are going to, but I am still learning. Maybe I will get it down soon. We had a wonderful evening last night, just extremely worn out, we received some pictures and a video of "K", thanks to the Ryan Family for taking those precious pictures and "K" in action. It was great to get some more pictures of him. We are waiting patiently and praying intently that next Monday is the day!!! We are so ready to go and love on him!!!

Not Today

We did not pass court today. It seems that MOWA made a mistake on the paperwork so the judge wants them to correct it. They gave us a new courtdate of June 1st. We are heartbroken right now, but it is going to be ok. We know God's timing is perfect and this will happen!!!! Thank you all for your prayers and your continued prayers.

Court date moved to Friday

Just wanted to give you a quick update that our court date got moved to Friday. Please pray that everything goes well and we can get through this chapter in our journey. Hope to have a great update on Friday!!!

Finding Strenght in God's Word

As this week brings many feelings, nerves, and anxiousness, God reminded me of a scripture that fits this week perfect.

Philippians 4:6-7
" Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication (petition) with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Wow, what a great scripture to hold on to and meditate on this week as many families wait for paperwork to get done, or as many wait to get that call with a referral, and like our family as we for our court date this week, and also for some as they prepare to travel. No matter what chapter of your journey you are in, it gives me great comfort to know that God is at the forefront of this wonderful journey and He is guarding our hearts and has our best interest and our little "K"'s best interest at heart. He is with us always. His plan is Perfect!!

So as we continue our journey I Thank The Lord for Blessing our Family with the miracle of Adoption and for everything He has taught me along this wonderful journey. Know that we are praying for you this week as you Wait on the Lord!!!

New Court Date

Well, we are still waiting. They did not have the opinion written for today like they said they would so the judge said enough of this and issued us a new court date. May 21st, next Thursday is the big day, that hopefully and prayerfully we will pass court. We have been in this limbo since our first court date on April 23rd, it is hard to not get discouraged and depressed, but I know there is a reason for all of the delay's. We will continue to pray that things go well, next Thursday and we will pass with flying colors!!!!

Monday, May 11, 2009

Maybe this Week?

We are still waiting to pass court. We have heard that they are going to try to have our paperwork done by middle of the week and then prayerfully we will pass court by end of the week. We are hanging in there, I had a couple of days last week that were pretty tough to get through, but we made it and now we are on to a new week. I had a great Mother's Day with my family. They bought me my very own mp3 player so I can have it to take on the trip to Ethiopia. I was very excited, it is not very often that mom gets her own personal mp3 player or any other device!!! I just wanted to give a quick update. We worked on the boy's room yesterday and I am very excited, the beds are both in place and Luke slept in his new wonderful garage sale find bed last night. He was really excited about his bed and especially excited when we got the crib put up for "K". We can't wait until he is here to sleep in it and bunk in the same room with his big brother, Luke!!!
Have a great week in the Lord!!!!

Surprise update today!!!

We received an unexpected email and photo of our little one today. It was great to see another picture. He gets bigger and bigger all the time. We are praying that the end of this week will bring us great news of making it through court.
God has really been working on me lately. How much do I really put my faith in Him and that He is able to do immeasurably more then what I ask or imagine?? Makes me think a little bit when I really stop to think how big my God is and what He can do --- He can do Anything, and He has our best interest at heart as his children. Sometimes it sure does not seem like it, but He sees the big picture and knows what is best. Isn't it funny how everyday I can tell myself that in His timing things will happen, but yet the human side of me still gets anxious and wants it to happen in my time. That makes me laugh when I think of how self-centered we are sometimes and all we think about is me, me, and me!!! Yet, there are people out there that do not know the Loving and merciful God that saved me and even some that have never heard His precious name and what He did for us. Makes me stop and truly thank Him for the many Blessings that He has given me and our family and continues to do each and everyday!!!

In a Holding Pattern

We are still on hold with our court case. MOWA has not been able to get to our case with all of the other adoptions that they have. We are thankful that our case is still open in court and they will just have to try to work it in whenever they have a little extra time. We will continue to pray for our little guy and things will continue to move in God's timing.

Angels Rejoicing In Heaven

What a great day we have had. My girls and I spent the morning garage selling and had a lot of fun together. We had a busy day, but wow did we have an incredible ending. Our oldest daughter accepted Jesus into her heart and life as her Lord and Savior tonight after our revival meeting. What a glorious time with her as she became a child of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!!!!! God has answered a prayer and what a special celebration we are having with her.

God is Working on Hearts

We have had a busy week this last week with Revival meetings at church every night until Wednesday. We really saw God working in people's hearts and some awesome decisions made. Pastor Joe made the decision if our revival evangelist would stay until Sunday we need to continue the meetings, so we are having meetings tonight and tomorrow night and then Sunday morning and evening. We are so excited to see what God is going to continue to do here.

I am going to venture out Sat. morning and see if I can't find some great garage sale finds. We are looking for a bed for our new little boy, not exactly sure what we want, just praying that I will know and come up with a great idea for the boy's room when I see it. I love garage sales, and there seems to be a bunch going on tomorrow!!
We are trying to keep busy to keep our mind from stressing or worrying about Monday. God is in control and we know that. We pray for our little one and that we can travel soon.

We love you "K"!!! Your oldest sister was extremely disappointed about our court delay, but God is teaching her a lot through this journey also, and we thank Him for that. "K" have fun playing and be a good boy for your awesome caretakers. We Love You Very much, see you soon!!

We are on Hold

We received a call from our sweet caseworker, that we are on hold until Monday. MOWA(Ministry of Woman's Affairs) was not able to get their opinion and paperwork done to present to the courts, so we are on hold until Monday. So, we will continue to pray that Monday will be the day for our sweet little boy to officially be ours, even though he already is in our hearts. Thank you all for your continued prayers as our journey continues.

Tomorrow is a Big Day, Please Pray!!

We are praying for tomorrow. We have our court date in Ethiopia tomorrow. We are excited and a little nervous, but I spent some time in prayer yesterday and will again today and gave it all to God. It is all His to handle anyway. He has taught me so, so much in the last few months, but especially in this last month. I feel like I have really figured out how much my Abba Father loves me and cares for me. What a wonderful thing have a small grasp of. So we pray that God will work in every situation and in His timing for our court day tomorrow. I will let you all know when I know something myself.
My husband and I spent some time in prayer last night for a family that has a court date today, praying for great things to come from today for them!!!

Praying for our little guy to be home soon, not selfishly, but fervently to my Abba Daddy!! His will be done, in His time!!

How do we get all of this stuff packed?

Ok we are trying to be prepared to travel soon. We know that our God is a big God and we are praying that our courtdate goes great on Thursday. Which is actually Wed. night our time, they are 9 hours ahead of us, so if you could all pray this week and especially before you go to bed on We. night, we would appreciate it!!!! We continue to pray for health for our little guy and pray that the adjustment goes well.
I am a little bit concerned how in the world we are going to get all of this stuff packed. I bought a bunch of our humanitarian aid this last week, but how do I fit these huge boxes of diapers in a suitcase or even a tote, this may sound silly, but do I take everything out of the original box, is that ok for the humanitarian aid. I am actually a really good packer, learned that from my mom, thanks mom!!!! But I am really a little stressed and concerned at the moment.
Well, we are just going to try not to worry about those things and pray for our courtdate to pass!!!
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

We Have a Courtdate!!!!!

God is awesome!! We have been waiting to hear about a court date, and did not expect a call today, but our very sweet caseworker called me today and told us that we have a court date. Next Thursday, she said, to which I replied almost in tears, really!!!!! We were not expecting any news for a little while yet, but God is in control and if faithful in all things!!! If you do not believe that you need to take a look at our adoption journey from the very beginning. We continue to pray for our sweet little boy and continue to pray that our court date goes well, and we pass court on April 23rd!!! We will then find out when we get to travel to pick our sweet little boy up!!!
I am still on cloud 9 and can't seem to get much done except to dream about holding my little boy in my arms, soon!!
I do have to share on last thing, when we began our journey of adoption last September, I prayed that God would allow us to bring home our little one by this summer. God is still teaching me to have Faith. For some reason it still shocks us that when we ask for something and God blesses that we are amazed. Why do we not have more Faith? My God is might and can accomplish whatever He wants to, in His timing. Praises to my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ!!!!!

22 months old Today!!

Praise the Lord, He is Risen, yes risen indeed!! What a great time of fellowship we had yesterday as we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! We want to challenge everyone to not only celebrate Easter once a year but each and every day. Each day is a blessing from the Lord!! We have enjoyed spending some time with Joe's parents and had two different friends and there families over for supper last night. We had a great time of fellowship, fun and laughter.
I have seemed to catch a cold/allergy trouble again. I really wish I could shake this stuff, it is not any fun to not feel quite like yourself.
We received a very special blessing last week from some friends here in town that blessed us with a gift for our adoption. What an amazing testimony to be able to help someone else out!! We pray that one day we can bless someone else going through the adoption process.
We are still waiting on a court date, so we continue to pray for our little one especially today since he is 22 months old today. We continue to pray for his health and pray that we can see him very soon!!

The Waiting is Tough, Now

Wow, I thought the waiting before we had a referral was tough, but now that we have a picture of our little guy it is so hard to not want to jump on a plane and go and get him. We can't wait for that wonderful day. We know that many of you have been waiting a lot longer then we have, so we continue to Pray!! God is Good, and His timing is Perfect!

Monday, April 6, 2009

Are You Sitting Down?

Are you sitting down is what I heard today on a telephone call from our caseworker from Gladney. She had wonderful news, that's right, We have our Referral!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God is amazing and we give Him all the praise and the Glory for our new little boy. He is so so adorable. We are still on top of the clouds and it is 11:10pm on Monday night. We can't stop looking at this cute little boy waiting for us to come pick him up. We continue to pray for paperwork to go smoothly as well as our court date, yet to be determined. We will keep you updated.
We also continue to pray for the families that are still waiting for there little ones to be home and waiting on there very own referral.
Praise God for All things.

God is Faithful

Wow, another blessing today and yesterday!! We have been blessed by a family in our church with a gift to go towards our adoption process, and today we received a very special letter from Shaohannah's Hope that they are excited about our adoption and we will receive a special gift from them as well. God is so faithful and continues to show me that He is in control of ALL things, big and small. Our kids are getting so, so excited about their new sibling(s). Our family is so blessed and thankful that God is walking with us each step of the way in our adoption.
I am also so very Thankful for all of the Gladney staff that works so hard for each of the families adopting. They are true servants of the Lord for all the work that they do and I want to Thank them for all the things they do. It is not just a job to them, but there heart is in it along with ours as we wait. What a ministry, May God continue to bless each of them as they find homes for these precious children!!

Back to the Normal Routine of Things

Wow, spring break flew right by and now we are getting back to the normal routine around our house. Trying to get caught up on some paperwork to get mailed out today. The weather has been beautiful, but they say it is about to get really cold again with some snow. I know some people around the country have lot's of snow! It is almost April and Joe has a birthday coming up. I will try to get some pictures posted from our spring break jump-n-jive adventure soon. Blessings to all!

A Crazy Week

Hello
What a crazy week of spring break this has been. Some disappointments, but also some great opportunities and learning experiences. The week of spring break started out by Joe being gone to do a funeral for a church member up in Missouri, long trip for him, but what an honor for him to get to remember our dear friend!! We were going to go out of town on Wed. to go visit Joe's grandma and then go by his folks to pick up a washer and dryer since our washer quit working about a week and a half ago. We were getting ready to leave on Wed. and another dear lady in our church went home to be with the Lord. So needless to say plans were tossed up in the air and not sure what to do. We were going to go spend one night in a hotel with our kiddos and go swimming, they were so excited. I cancelled that reservation and the kids were heartbroken. We decided that we really needed some family time, so we packed a bag and went to Amarillo to spend the night at a hotel. Well, we checked in and then went to eat and run a couple of errands, when we got back we all got our swimming suits on and then they told us the pool was closed for repair. Wow, our kid's have had to huge heartbreaks in one day!! They were crushed. We ended up just having some great snacks in our room and great family togetherness time. Sometimes life throws us some unexpected things, but even when it does there is one thing that is constant and never changes and that is Christ in our lives and in our family. We thank Him for the many opportunities that we do have, and even in the disappointments there is always something to be Thankful for. We love just being able to spend quality time with our kid's. We continue to look forward to the day that we can spend that time with our new little one's that we are longing to meet. May we always remember our blessed we are and be thankful for what we have and the things that we get to do.

A Heartfelt Blessing

I just wanted to share what a heartfelt blessing we received yesterday at church. A special couple in our church handed Joe and envelope. When we got home we opened it and there was a special note, a magazine subscription invoice and a gift. The note read something like this..."Your adoption is more important than adding a magazine to my already ample collection! Mr. ___ suggested and additional __gift." Wow, this gift was truly a heartfelt gift, they decided instead of subscribing to another magazine to give us a gift for our adoption. What a blessing, we are very touched by the love and care from this wonderful couple. We always tell people that God is going to provide, but when He impresses on people to put others first before themselves it is awesome!! I will put this great little note in our little ones scrapbook so they can see how this couple along with many, many others love and care for them, too!!
We are praying for some friends that we have met through Gladney they are waiting on a piece of paper to be signed in order to pass court and be able to bring their girls home. Please continue to pray for the courts in Ethiopia that things will go smooth for many families ready to bring their children home.
We continue to wait, but I am really praying for the health and safety of our little one(s). They are going through as much waiting for their new family as we are for them to be home with us. God is Good and His timing is Perfect!!!!

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

I have been trying to keep busy. Time goes by a lot faster when I keep busy. I would like to get caught up on scrapbooks, but that has not happened yet. I guess that means that I have had plenty of other things keeping me busy. I am working on Easter dresses for the girls, so that has been fun! Hopefully I will get them done over the next couple of weeks. We continue to wait and try to plan ahead and get organized as much as we can at this moment in time. Well, signing off for now. God is Good, All the Time!!!!!

Our Story

I decided maybe I should share a little bit about how we came to the beginning of our adoption journey. We moved to Texas in March 2006, our youngest was about 8 months old. We had planned on eventually having more kids, but health insurance and maternity coverage was really kind of an obstacle at the time. That July I began having some pain and trouble physically, it took me a little while to find a doctor and then they had to reschedule my appointments a couple of times, so finally the beginning of October I got in to see the doctor. After a couple of follow-up appointments it was determined that I needed to have a hysterectomy. I was devastated, with just turning 30 years old and having to deal with the realization that I could never have any more children. I struggled for some time before and after surgery. It was hard to really share what you are feeling inside when you are going through something like that. I knew that time would heal that hurt and God was still in control of what now I know was an incredible plan. I thought that our family was complete and love my three kids dearly. God had different plans, at the beginning of 2008, God began to work on my heart that He wanted us to adopt. I told Him that our family was complete, but as time went on my heart longed for another child and my love grew for our little one that I do not even know yet. I prayed about adopting for a few months and then Joe began to talk about adopting, I was sure that this was from the Lord. We began to pray even more and the Lord led us to friends that have adopted and they shared their stories with us and gave us guidance on how to begin the journey of adoption. We officially began our process in September and have now come to the time of Waiting!!
If I can share anything with you, it would be this, to remember that we do not see the big picture that God has planned for our lives and our family. Sometimes we try to do things all on our own, but God pulls us back and continues to say, Just live one day at a time, but always live for Him and His Glory!!!

Sunday, February 22, 2009

This past week, I have been learning what patience is all about. Even though we want desperately for our referral to come, I have been reminded of the precious moments that I have to spend our our three kiddos that are at home right now. You know people always tell you when when you have kids to cherish every moment because time goes by so fast and then they are grown and gone. Wow, you do not realize how true that is until you see it happening right before your eyes. Our children grow up so fast, and I always think about all of the things that I want to teach them and things that they need to know, and you think you have all the time in the world, but let me assure you, we don't. Each day that I get to spend with my kid's is very precious and I will treasure it always. Even those days that are tough and I just want to run outside and scream, but the good definitely outweighs the bad or challenging times.
So as we wait, I have been reminded from a couple of new friends to do things with my kids that we might not get to do when our little one gets here. Enjoy the time that I can spend with each of them and cherish those moments forever. Thanks to my new friend C. for that reminder!! The journey continues!!

Not sure what to say

Good afternoon! I am kind of at a loss of exactly what to say in this new blog that I created. I know we are what I consider to be almost the halfway point of our adoption. Meaning that all of the paperwork on this side of things is done, I hope! I am praying that we will not have to update or repeat any paperwork, but in reality that is probably only wishful thinking. I know some of you that have already been through the adoption process are probably laughing and saying that I have a lot to learn. You are probably right, I know I still have a lot to learn, but one thing that I do know is that the love I feel in my heart for this precious little one that I have not even met yet is sometimes so great that it just brings me to tears. Well, better get back to things on the home front and continue to learn on this wonderful journey!!

Learning something New

Well, today I am entering the world of blogging. I have always thought that I was pretty up with the times, but I am finding out more and more that in a lot of people's eyes I am not very computer savey. I will continue to learn new things as time goes on so please bear with me as I learn how to blog.
At the beginning of 2008, God began to work on my heart and was telling us to adopt. I spent a lot of time in prayer and Joe and I began to talk more and more about adopting. We had talked about adopting years ago when we were first married, but the heart tug had not ever been as strong as it was at that moment. We visited with some friends from my home church that have adopted and they gave us some great insight and information to start with. I began to look at different adoption agencies and we finally decided to go with Gladney. So to bring you all up to date, we have all of our paperwork and our Dossier is complete and on it's way the Ethiopia. We received an email from our caseworker last Thursday, February 12th that we are officially on the Wait List!! What a great early Valentines gift!!
